What Does WEB Mean on a Bank Statement?
WEB is short for Internet-Initiated/Mobile Entry.
What WEB means
WEB is a Nacha Standard Entry Class (SEC) code for ACH debits that a consumer authorizes over the internet or through a mobile app. If you paid a bill on a company’s website by entering your routing and account numbers, or signed up for a subscription that charges your checking account, that payment likely carries the WEB code. Nacha also uses the code for some person-to-person transfers sent online.
How WEB appears on a bank statement
WEB usually appears after the company name on an ACH entry, sometimes with the company’s ID number. Illustrative examples:

ACME LOANS PAYMENT WEB ID: 1234567890
Wording varies by bank.
What to do if you don’t recognize a WEB charge
- Search the company name. Online payments are often processed under a parent company or payment processor name.
- Check your email for receipts or sign-up confirmations from around the date of the charge.
- Contact the company to ask about the charge or to cancel recurring payments.
- If you didn’t authorize it, report it to your bank promptly. Your routing and account numbers are printed on your checks, so someone could use them without ever having your card. For personal accounts, federal rules generally give you 60 days after the statement is sent to report unauthorized electronic transfers.
- Ask your bank about blocking future debits from that company.
